Amos 4:2 - Additional Comments
God cannot accept sin because of His holiness, so it is by this holiness He condemns their sin.
God's promise is that those who live in idle luxury, without care of the needy, even oppressing them (verse 1), will have their luxury dragged away. Plus, these hooks are used in slavery, so they go from being masters to being slaves.
What does your happiness, your success, your contentment, depend on? Is it the things of the world? What would you become if all your possessions were dragged away? Would you be a different person? What would you say to God?
