Where was the Garden of Eden Located?

Intersection of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers

Many believe the Garden of Eden is located in the Mesopotamian area (modern-day Iraq). This locality is east of Palestine, which may be the meaning of Genesis 2:8. This area lies between the Tigris and the Euphrates Rivers. These rivers are actually united for a short distance as one stream and then they divide and enter into the Persian Gulf by two mouths. Therefore, the area watered by these two streams is extremely fertile. This certainly fits the description of what we would think of today as an ideal agricultural location for the magnificent Garden of Eden.

Various Bible scholars differ as to where they think the Garden was located. Certainly there is no way to be dogmatic about this. However, the area described above is the more common view.
