There was also a crowd of riffraff tagging along, not to mention the large flocks and herds of livestock. They baked unraised cakes with the bread dough they had brought out of Egypt; it hadnt raised—theyd been rushed out of Egypt and hadnt time to fix food for the journey.

600,000 men would imply about 4 million people or more, including women and children (assuming an average of 5 children per family). The nation of Israel had gone from 70 people (Deut 10:22) 430 years ago (Exo 12:40) to 4 million. They could do this if there were 15 generations and an average of 5 children in a family (each generation lasting between 25-30 years).
