Hebrews 12:11 - Additional Comments

What?! Chastening is not joyful? Yes, it is a challenge, but through it we can be looking forward to the results, the peaceable fruit of righteousness. The result is full of peace, and the result moves us toward righteousness.
While we are on the earth, we are not retired - we are in boot camp, we are in training. While God calls some of us mature (1 Cor 2:6, Phil 3:15), at the same time we are still regularly in training for righteousness, because we never fully arrive.
We are always being mentored by God, but we can always be in the state where we are mentoring others (vs 12-13, 2 Tim 2:2).
