For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.

Hebrews 9:2 - Additional Comments

"The sanctuary" was the Holy Place (Exo 26:33) of the tabernacle, also called the Inner Court. This tabernacle was contained inside the Outer Court of the full tabernacle. The sanctuary contained the Golden Lampstand (Exo 25:31-40), the Table of Showbread (Exo 25:23-30), and the Altar of Incense (Exo 30:1-10).
