Isaiah 43:12

I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

Wow, that God saw there were no idols, no other priorities, in their lives. May that be said of us!
In fact, instead of hearing a list of things we should be doing (like have no other gods), we should hear the as definitions of who we are, like we see in this verse. For example, we are told to be gentle, so we should hope that someone says "He is a gentle person." We are told to be at peace, so we should hope that someone says "He is a man of peace." Same for all the fruit of the Spirit.
