Jeremiah 4:30

King James Version (KJV)

And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.

Translations

Jeremiah 4:30 - Amplified Bible

And you [plundered one], when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck yourself with ornaments of gold, though you paint your eyelids {and} make them look farther apart, in vain you beautify yourself. Your lovers (allies) despise you; they seek your life.

Jeremiah 4:30 - American Standard Version

And you, when you are made waste, what will you do? Jeremiah 4:30 - La Biblia de las Americas

Y tù, desolada, ¿qué harás?
Aunque te vistas de escarlata,
aunque te pongas adornos de oro,
aunque te agrandes con pintura los ojos,
en vano te embelleces;
te desprecian tus amantes,
sòlo buscan tu vida.

Jeremiah 4:30 - The Message

And you, what do you think you’re up to?
   Dressing up in party clothes,
Decking yourselves out in jewelry,
putting on lipstick and rouge and mascara!
Your primping goes for nothing.
You’re not going to seduce anyone. They’re out to kill you!
And what’s that I hear? The cry of a woman in labor,
the screams of a mother giving birth to her firstborn.
It’s the cry of Daughter Zion, gasping for breath,
   reaching out for help:
"Help, oh help me! I’m dying!
   The killers are on me!"

Jeremiah 4:30 - New American Standard Bible

And you, O desolate one, what will you do? Although you dress in scarlet, Although you decorate {yourself with} ornaments of gold, Although you enlarge your eyes with paint, In vain you make yourself beautiful. {Your} lovers despise you; They seek your life.

Jeremiah 4:30 - Nueva Biblia Latinoamericana de Hoy

Y tù, desolada, ¿qué harás?
Aunque te vistas de escarlata,
Aunque te pongas adornos de oro,
Aunque te agrandes los ojos con pintura,
En vano te embelleces;
Te desprecian tus amantes,
Sòlo buscan tu vida.

Jeremiah 4:30 - World English Bible

You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck you with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with paint, in vain do you make yourself beautiful; [your] lovers despise you, they seek your life.

Jeremiah 4:30 - Young's Living Translation

And thou, O spoiled one, what dost thou? For thou puttest on scarlet, For thou adornest thyself [with] ornaments of gold. For thou rendest with pain thine eyes, In vain thou dost make thyself fair, Kicked against thee have doting ones, Thy life they do seek.
