John 1:38 - Additional Comments

Jesus asked them what they were looking for, and oddly they asked Jesus where He was staying. They knew they wanted to be near Him, to find out more about Him, and if they knew where He was staying, they could just spend time there to get more time with Jesus. Shouldn't that be our attitude, to find out where Jesus is, and make an effort to be there? Most of the time it seems that if we wind up near Jesus, it's not because of an effort on our part. God said we would find Him when we search for Him with all our heart (Jer 29:13), and Jesus said He would take care of us if we sought His kingdom and His righteousness (Matt 6:33). Jesus tells us if we seek we will find (Luke 11:9-10). Again, the question, are we seeking? Are you looking for Jesus?
Maybe the question to ask is what are you looking for? What is it you want, you wish for, you desire? See notes on 1 Cor 2:2.
