John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Jesus spoke this so they may have peace. There is no peace with the world, but since Jesus has overcome the world, He can provide peace.
This concludes Jesus' final discourse with the disciples. His prayer then begins in the next chapter.
