Luke 15:4 - Additional Comments

Note the position of the lost sheep. It has little to no food, no protection, and no comforts. Those without Christ like to stay "lost", but are in much the same situation, and don't even realize it, for they have never tasted of the care of the Master (described in Isaiah 40:11).
See how the Father (the Master) eagerly seeks the one who is lost, and the passion He has for this one. We need to understand just how much God has a passion for the lost to come to Him, and the joy He has when they do.
Note that even while the sheep is lost, it still belongs to the Master. God is Master of all people, even when they are still lost, and even when the sheep don't realize it.
