And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

Nazareth was about 65 miles north of Jerusalem, in the area of Galilee. See notes on Nazareth on John 1:46.
Bethlehem was about 5 miles south of Jerusalem, in the area of Judea.
It was foretold that he would be of the lineage of David - 2 Sam 7:8-16.
It was foretold in Micah 5:2 that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. "Bethlehem" means a house of bread, appropriate since the Bread of Life would come from there.
Bethlehem is the place where David was born, and so Jesus, "the Son of David".
