Mark 11:7 - Additional Comments

Even though Jesus was being glorifed in this event, yet He remained humble even in His glory - He rode upon a colt, which being a donkey, was not an attractive animal, and looked contemptible; and, being but a colt, having not been ridden before, was probably rough and untrimmed, and not only so, but rude and ungovernable, and would disturb any dignity in the situation.
Christ travelled over the water in a borrowed boat, ate the passover in a borrowed room, was buried in a borrowed tomb, and here rode on a borrowed donkey. Let us not neglect to share what we have with others, even asking to borrow if there is a need, as Christ did.
He was being given a glorious role, but chose to taken the lowly form of it, following the advice He had just given his disciples, that He will be first my place himself last (Mark 10:43-45).
Note man has dominion over all other animals, great and small - Genesis 1:26, Psalm 8:5-6, Heb 2:8.
