What a difference with how they would be treating Him in just 4 more days!
Notice that they did not understand that Jesus IS Lord, not just that He was coming in the name of the Lord.
Why did Jesus choose to come into the city in such grand fashion? Yes He was humble and a servant, but He was also King and worthy of praise, and He wanted to show that. John 13:31-32 says "the Son of Man is glorified, and ... God will also glorify Him in Himself". He is worthy of glory and honor. His glorification is His position, and His servanthood is His example to us of how to live.
