I wonder where this man came from. When did the demons inhabit him? What was he like before that? Did he leave himself open to this by lack of belief in God, or a rejection of God wanting access to his life?
This is a perfect picture of depraved man. We constantly subject ourselves to physical and emotional harm by the life we live. People try to change our behavior but to no avail. We cry out for help yet nothing seems to work. Jesus needs to intervene (see notes on vs 8).
