This is very interesting. Part of Jesus time on earth as a man was to lay out the puzzle pieces. He knew the puzzle could not be put together until His resurrection and the arrival of the Holy Spirit, because it would only be an incomplete puzzle, and might actually be misleading. And so, He told them to not tell others, yet. He basically was telling His apostles to keep collecting the facts, the information, the events, and then at some later day, put it all together. Don't even try to put it together before then.
