Psalm 100 is marked as a psalm for worshippers, to worship with praise and thanksgiving.
The noise when a favorite team scores is a joyful shout. We are to make a similar joyful shout to praise God.
It is to be a shout filled with joy.
People everywhere are to do this - people of all nations.
See other notes on worship in John 4:24 and Matthew 2:11.
Christians sometimes fall into the trap of assuming that worship must be solemn. Yet the psalmist recognized that worship can be full of emotion in appreciating the Lord.
In ancient Israel, it was appropriate to shout about what good things that had happened or were happening. These celebrations were usually outdoors.
We can worship with a shout! "Joyful" is from the heart, and "to the Lord" shows it's godly worship. This is a sound to be heard around the world, from every nation.
You shout when your team scores. Do you have a reason to shout in worship?
