So, what are we to remember (vs 7), to meditate on (vs 5), to sing of (vs 7), to declare (vs 6), to praise to our children (vs 4)? We start to see these things list in the next few verses.
God is gracious - He gives to us so much, and what we give to Him He enables us to give (1 Thess 3:12, 2 Cor 9:10, James 1:17), so His grace increases as we praise and obey Him!
Why is He so gracious? As big as God is, He is *full" of compassion. For each one of us. Now that is an amazing God, to be as big, awesome, and powerful, yet have this extreme love for each of us.
How does His compassion manifest itself? He is slow to anger. He must be very slow to anger, when you look at His patience towards us.
And His great compassions results in His great mercy (meaning kindness, pity, resulting in being lenient to those deserving of punishment).
