Psalms 42 & 43 were probably written as one psalm (see 42:5 and 43:5) (see 42:9 and 43:2).

This psalm is a "Maschil", or a teaching psalm, to help understanding.
This is a psalm written by the sons of Korah. God executed him due to the rebellion, but his sons remained to continue in their service to God (see Num 26:9-11).
