Psalms 42 & 43 were probably written as one psalm (see 42:5 and 43:5) (see 42:9 and 43:2).
The writer felt separated from God, but still hoped in God. Seek God, even when He seems far away. He hasn't moved.
God wants our character to succeed more than our circumstances to succeed. He will adjust our circumstances in such a way that our character eventually succeeds, for that is His highest aim, His will.
This psalm is a "Maschil", or a teaching psalm, to help understanding.
This is a psalm written by the sons of Korah. God executed him due to the rebellion, but his sons remained to continue in their service to God (see Num 26:9-11).
