How To Avoid Hell

3 Simple Steps to Salvation

Love Jesus

The Word of God emphasizes God cares, and God will not allow anybody to go to Hell without a chance. Our hearts should be melted with a reciprocal love for Jesus when we understand and believe from the teaching of God’s Word that Jesus suffered the terrible equivalent of an eternity in Hell compressed within those six hours He was dying on the cross for you and me.

It is staggering to realize, on the authoritative basis of God’s Holy Word, how compassionately Jesus cares for us and what He was willing to go through for us.

Accept Jesus

There is no need to fear Hell or to try to explain away Hell, if one has truly repented of his sin and has accepted Jesus into his heart and life as Savior and Lord. God forgives sin, then, for Jesus’ sake.

That is why Jesus died on the cross in our stead, bearing our sins and their penalty in our stead. This makes it possible for a holy God to forgive us of our sins and to save us from the everlasting penalty and consequences of our sin.

If one has not repented and trusted in Jesus and in His shed blood for the forgiveness of sin, he has just cause to be afraid of Hell. If one will not have mercy, he must have justice; if he will not have pardon, he must have punishment; if he will not have forgiveness (and all of these good things are offered to us in and through Christ alone), he must have condemnation; if one will not have Heaven as God’s free gift through Jesus Christ to all who repent and trust in Him, he must have Hell.

Receive Everlasting Life

Everlasting life means to be in union with God through the redeeming work of Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit in a penitent sinner’s heart who believes on Jesus for the forgiveness of sin.

People in Hell exist forever, but do not have the gift of everlasting life, which is union with God. Rather, they are banished forever from the presence of God. The ones who have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord have the gift of everlasting life.

This means that we began to live forever the moment we accepted Jesus as our Savior and Lord. We will never cease to be in union with God. Our bodies may die physically and await the resurrection of those bodies but even while our bodies are in the grave, our souls are with God, in His presence.
