1 John 2:3 - Additional Comments

There are different types of knowledge:
* Knowing a famous person, like Einstein
* Knowing a subject, like chemistry
* Knowing an acquaintance
* Knowing a friend
* Knowing your spouse
* Knowing God
Each "knowledge" can have vastly different levels. To Increase your knowledge, you should have 2 things - a desire / kinship / passion, and time.
How can we know God better? We need to have a passion, a desire for Him, and we need to spend time with Him. What will be the results? "We keep His commandments."
If you have the knowledge, if you know God, the result will be obedience.
Therefore, if you keep His commandments, you can be confident that you know Him.
1 John was written so we can have this confidence (see 1 John 5:13).
What does it mean to "know God"? knowing the wisdom of His counsels, the riches of His grace, the grandeur of His works.
