Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

Our righteousness is in God's forgiveness, as He had done to David (9:4).
This also makes it very clear that while God mercy on those who come to Him, He will also punish for unconfessed sin. (We suffer for all sin, but God specifically judges and condemns unconfessed sin.) See 8:33-34.
