1 Peter 3:14

But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

When you are righteous, you fend off most attacks by your life (vs 13) and God's help (vs 12), but you still may suffer because of your righteousness. So, we may still suffer, so we should not be surprised. In reality we may suffer for either being righteous or for being evil (vs 17).
