1 Samuel 13:8 - Additional Comments

In 1 Sam 10:8, Saul had told Samuel "You shall go down before me to Gilgal; and surely I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and make sacrifices of peace offerings. Seven days you shall wait, till I come to you and show you what you should do." The words from Samuel were words he had received from God, so they were commands from God. Samuel was clear that he was the one to offer the burnt offerings and sacrifices. Saul had waited the 7 days, but became worried and impatient, and offered the burnt offering without Saul (13:9). Samuel arrived just after that, still on the seventh day. As a result, Saul loses his role as king (13:14).
