1 Samuel 16:7 - Additional Comments
Since God is the enabler, the one who makes things happen, the equipper, he doesn't look for physical capabilities to be able to use someone, He looks for someone whose heart is loyal to Him.
"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him." 2 Chron 16:9
God chooses people with a heart for Him. But what does it mean to have a heart for God? How can you tell if you do? What does God find when He looks at you? Does He find a heart loyal to Him?
And what is God's promise when He finds a heart loyal to Him? He will show Himself strong.
How can you be a person after God's own heart? It's simple - you want to do what God wants you to do. But that means first you seek what God's wants, and then you try to do what He wants. God promises we will find Him when we search for Him with all our heart (Jer 29:13). And when we fail Him, we truly repent.
Acts 8:22 "Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you."
Your heart is where yours emotions are. The bottom line is to have a passion for God.
What did God know that was not apparent? God saw David's heart, and that David was a man after His own heart (Acts 13:22).
