1 Samuel 2:20 - Additional Comments

Notice Elkanah's other wife, Peninnah (1:2), was not mentioned. This even more justifying the case that marrying Peninnah was wrong, and he should have only married one, Hannah. See notes on vs 1:2.
Hannah gave Samuel to God, and now God is rewarding her with the riches of more children. God ALWAYS rewards us for a heart and sacrifice to Him (see Matt 19:29), albeit it may not be by replacing the same we gave, but in other ways. Our life becomes richer the more we devote it to God.
Note that if you give to God because you want to get from Him, you are giving for the wrong reasons, and it might actually decrease the blessings you could receive. How different from what the "prosperity gospel" preachers preach - they teach you to be greedy, to want for yourself, to see God as a Daddy Warbucks.
