2 Corinthians 4:4

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

For the god of this world has blinded the unbelievers' minds [that they should not discern the truth], preventing them from seeing the illuminating light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ (the Messiah), Who is the Image {and} Likeness of God.

That veil (see verse 3) is Satan, who blinds unbelievers eyes to see the light of the gospel. When we pray for someone to become a Christian, we should pray that Satan be no allowed to blind their eyes to the gospel, so they can see it clearly. Sometimes a person may choose to reject Christ because the veil has prevented them from seeing the gospel clearly. And it can only be through prayer that the veil may be lifted, i.e. through God.s power. Therefore, it is critical that prayer accompany sharing the gospel.
