2 Thessalonians 1:12 - Additional Comments

What does it mean for one to glorify another? To give honor, high praise, to exalt, to raise the stature or position of, to acknowledge as excellent
What?! Christ be glorified in us, with the sinful nature we have, the black hearts, Christ can be glorified in us? Can Christ be any more glorified than He is now?
How? The answer is given at the end of the verse - according to the grace given to us. We can glorify Him because He gives His grace enables us to do so, otherwise we could not sufficiently do so. This shows the extent of how God gives to us. He gives us the grace to enable us to glorify Him.
John Piper says "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him." Why? The more we are satisfied in Him, the less we are satisfied with the world.
Rom 12:2 says "do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
Friendship with the world is being an enemy of God's - James 4:4.
This transformation needs to be a radical change, a move in the opposite direction. How? Two things.
Take a look a what you spend your time on, both thoughts and activities, and what God wants you to spend time on - Prov 4:23-27, Phil 4:8, Josh 1:8, Psalm 1:1-3.
Secondly, take a look at what your passions are. Making money? Stardom? Sports (playing or watching)? We need to pray that God gives us a passion for Him and the things of Him.
Remember that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge (Psa 111:10, Prov 1:7), so the transformation can't take place until you have a proper fear of God.
