Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

God's word is the word of truth. We are to understand that as we learn God's word, and learn how to use it, we are learning truth, and how to use it.
Diligent - "Exert oneself." It takes work. Approved - "well done" from the Lord. It takes diligent study of the Word to rightly interpret the Word.
