Acts 22:2 - Additional Comments

How did Paul identify with his audience in order to win them over to Christ? (We are to give a defense with meekness and fear - 1 Peter 3:15.)
1. Shows them respect; calls them "brothers & fathers" (vs 1)
2. Speaks to them in their language - Hebrew (vs 2)
3. Doesn't use words or phrases people don't understand (e.g. sanctified)
4. Identifies with his listeners, letting them know he was where they are at now.
- He emphasized his Jewish heritage by birth and location.
- Educated by one of the outstanding rabbis of that time, Gamaliel.
- A Pharisee in his zeal for the law.
- He reminds them that he himself had persecuted this way (of Christ).
