Ephesians 5:15 - Additional Comments
"Circumspect" means diligently or perfectly, to "look around" or "spy around". It is a careful examination to look at the all the possible consequences. The bottom line is that we are to pay careful attention to how we live, and to be making wise decisions, not foolish, like beasts who do not consider their actions or future (Psa 73:22).
How does the fool walk?
- the fool says there is no God (Psa 14:1, Psa 53:1)
- the fool blasphemes God (Psa 74:18)
- a fool does not understand how great are the works and thoughts of God (Psa 92:5-6)
- a fool despises wisdom and instruction (Prov 1:7) and knowledge (Prov 1:22)
- a fool spreads slander (Prov 10:18)
- a fool enjoys doing evil, and mock at sin (Prov 10:23, Prov 13:19, Prov 14:9)
- a fool does not listen to counsel, but thinks he knows enough to make the best decisions (Prov 12:15, Prov 14:16, Prov 15:5)
