Moses is born approximately 350 years after the Israelites arrived in Egypt (Exo 12:40-41 - 430 years minus Moses age of 80 when they left Egypt). Except for Exodus 1, these 350 years are silent (we hear little in the Bible of any events during that time). But to the Israelites, it may have also appeared that God was silent. At least we don't see any dramatic events except for their population growth and might. I expect this is what God was specifically accomplishing during that time, in addition to preparing their hearts and strengthening their bodies.
What do you think the Israelites had been praying for during those 350 years? Freedom I'm sure. Their prayers were being answered, but not in the timeframe they wanted, and certainly not as they expected. In fact, most who prayed never saw the results. Is there anything you have been bringing to God, maybe over and over, where you have not seemed to get any response from God? Sometimes it seems as if God is silent, that He is not hearing your prayers. For all the prayers of the Israelites for the past hundreds of years, it may have appeared God was not at work. God is always at work, we just need to trust. Who would have known this baby would lead them out of slavery? God is also doing something for you, but maybe not in the way or the time as you'd desired.
By this time, the families of the sons of Jacob had grown to be large. Moses was a descendant of Levi, as both his father and mother were descendants of Levi.
Moses father was Amram, and his mother was Jochebed. His father was a grandson of Levi, and his mother was a daughter of Levi. Moses grandfather was Korath, a son of Levi (see Num 3:17-19, 26:58-59).
