Was God really expecting Abram to walk before Him and be blameless? How could Abram receive the covenant? Was the covenant conditional on this? No, for Genesis 12:1-3 gives the same covenant, without restriction. And, if the restriction were required, Abram would never have received the covenant. The requirement for the covenant is given in 17:9-14.
