Genesis 2:17 - Additional Comments
If man has not eaten from the tree, God probably would have allowed for him to eat from the tree of life, to live forever.
In that day man did not die, but became condemned to death.
At this point, the text has not even mentioned that these tree contain fruit. Then, see 3:2-6. There is no mention of apples, but in chapter 3 it does mention fruit. If may have been apples, but we don't know.
