Genesis 37:35 - Additional Comments

What a different reaction when his son died than David's (2 Sam 12:19-20). But David knew his was a result of sin and punishment, but Jacob was surprised and helpless in his son's death.
There is a potential in situations like this to become a prisoner of the past, for the past to influence everything that happens in the present. This is a very difficult situation to overcome.
