James 1:5

King James Version (KJV)

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Translations

James 1:5 - Amplified Bible

If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally {and} ungrudgingly, without reproaching {or} faultfinding, and it will be given him.

James 1:5 - King James Version

James 1:5 - La Biblia de las Americas

Pero si alguno de vosotros se ve falto de sabidurìa, que la pida a Dios, el cual da a todos abundantemente y sin reproche, y le será dada.

James 1:5 - The Message

If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who "worry their prayers" are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.

James 1:5 - New American Standard Bible

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

James 1:5 - Nueva Biblia Latinoamericana de Hoy

Y si a alguno de ustedes le falta sabidurìa, que se la pida a Dios, quien da a todos abundantemente y sin reproche, y le será dada.

James 1:5 - World English Bible

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given him.

James 1:5 - Young's Living Translation

and if any of you do lack wisdom, let him ask from God, who is giving to all liberally, and not reproaching, and it shall be given to him;

James 1:5 - Additional Comments

What a great promise - if we ask God for His wisdom, it will be given to us. What is wisdom? The ability to see things as God does, and to make decisions as God would. When we go to God and ask, that is what we are asking for.
As we teach or counsel, God is the one who gives us wisdom in what to say. We can ask God for this wisdom (which we must do each time we teach or counsel), and He will give it to us. This is the only way we can have the wisdom of God, by His enabling.
