Why avoid sin? Because it honors God and your relationship with Him. That should be our primary reason. But weak as we are, God sets penalties in place, consequences for our actions, and that, unfortunately, is usually our primary deterrent to sinning. But thirdly, and this we often miss, is all the good that is available to us, that is withheld from us, as this verse mentions.
