Job 12:4 - The Message

"I’m ridiculed by my friends:
   ’So that’s the man who had conversations with God!’
Ridiculed without mercy:
   ’Look at the man who never did wrong!’
It’s easy for the well-to-do to point their fingers in blame,
   for the well-fixed to pour scorn on the strugglers.
Crooks reside safely in high-security houses,
   insolent blasphemers live in luxury;
   they’ve bought and paid for a god who’ll protect them.

Job 12:4 - New American Standard Bible

"I am a joke to my friends, The one who called on God and He answered him; The just {and} blameless {man} is a joke.

Job 12:4 - Nueva Biblia Latinoamericana de Hoy

Yo, el que clamaba a Dios, y El le respondìa.
Motivo de burla es el justo e intachable.

Job 12:4 - Young's Living Translation

A laughter to his friend I am: `He calleth to God, and He answereth him,` A laughter [is] the perfect righteous one.

Job 12:4 - Additional Comments

Job's "friends" have mocked him. He says this as if it is a pitiful place to be in. Beware of coarse jesting that is too true to not hurt. (See Ephesians 5:4.)
