John 20:2

Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

John 20:2 - Additional Comments

The resurrection was so unexpected that they all assumed Jesus body was stolen. There was no question of "What happened?" - the only possibility was a stolen body.
What assumptions do we make about Christ, especially ones that limit our expectations of His power?
We also may appear very dull and forgetful in retrospect by how we view things. If we look at notes we took years ago, we may see the same.
Note that what gave her fear and despair was really something that should have caused rejoicing. That is why, from God's perspective, we are to rejoice in all circumstances (1 Thess 5:16-18).
Note that Peter and John were together after the crucifixion, so Peter must have recovered from his denials enough to go back to the disciples.
The women told the apostles and other disciples (Luke 24:9), but here it only mentions Peter and John.
