And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?

Here Jesus teaches about salvation with the most unlikely of persons for a Jewish man - a single person, a woman, a poor woman, a stranger, a Samaritan. And, he is teaching his disciples (and us!) to do likewise, as those that know what a glorious achievement it is to help save each soul from death.
