John 6:30

They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

What are they looking for? What would it take for them to believe in Him? He has done countless healings (vs 2) and fed the 5.000 (vs 5-13).
Notice Jesus didn't respond by giving them another sign -- that really wasn't what they needed. They needed to understand who He was.
