Luke 22:16 - Additional Comments

I think there were a lot of things Jesus said they did not understand until later, this being one of those. They must have learned to just listen to things He said without understanding what they meant. Still, it had to be disturbing to hear Jesus talk of His suffering.
So, what was Judas thinking at this point? Judas must have been consumed with his own selfishness, not caring that Jesus was about to suffer. I wonder if Judas tied these comments to what he was about to do?
This is the final Passover, for after Jesus sacrifice there is no more need of Passover, nor any of the other feasts, for we now have forgiveness and freedom in Christ. Jesus states that this is now the new covenant (vs 20). What did they continue with? See Acts 2:42-47.
This was a special meal for them, just as Christ promises to dine with us as Christians (Rev 3:20).
