Luke 9:49 - Additional Comments

Here is a man who honored and served Jesus, but was not of their group (denomination?), not only not one of the twelve, nor one of the seventy, but not one of those that ever associated with them. But, when he heard of Christ, he believed in Him, and made use of His name with faith and prayer in a serious manner, to cast out demons. This is again selfishness (like in vs 46), for they think they are special, above others, and are the only ones with the truth of Jesus. Jesus makes it clear (vs 50) the man is with them, not against them.
