Notice Peter had been looking at Jesus first (Heb 12:2), and not the wind. Once he took his eyes off of Jesus, the things around him became overwhelming. This is how we are to live, to fix our eyes on Jesus so we can walk above the problems of this world, even when it doesn't seem possible. We are to be "cross-eyed".
