Matthew 21:5 - Additional Comments

The O.T. quote comes from Zech 9:9. Scripture tells us Jesus is the King of Israel, yet few if any realized this. This must have been confusing to those who read it, for when does a triumphant king come in a lowly fashion?
Pilate, when presenting Jesus to the crowds, says "Behold your king!" (John 19:14-15) The crowds reacts by not only denying Jesus as their king, and requesting his crucifixion, but also claiming Caesar to be their king! They certainly were ignoring God's prophesies in the O.T., regardless of whether the felt Jesus was their king.
