Matthew 27:40

The Jews and the soldiers weren't the reason Jesus was on the cross. Jesus chose to be there (Matt 26:39). His silence to this challenge effectively says no thank you, I chose to be here, and I choose to stay. Despite what they thought, Jesus really did have a choice.
