Matthew 6:19 - Additional Comments

Regarding God's word on money, see note in 2 Cor 8:4.
Actually, this passage refers to much more than money. This talks about what you spend your time and passions on, the things that last or the things that don't.
See the poem "God's Eternal Ink".
Much of these wrong attitudes relate to valuing the praise of men rather than God, and worrying what people think of you.
Much of these wrong attitudes also result from valuing yourself over others.
1 John 2:15-16 sums up the things of the world.
Consider the things that last - every attitude or action that results in eternal value. 1 Cor 10:31 asks us to do everything for the glory of God. But this is different, because not everything results in treasures in heaven.
Isn't it interesting that those who choose the things of this world for their pleasure, instead of the things of heaven, wind up poor and pitiful? Without the things of heaven, the things of this world cannot satisfy, even in this world!
Yet, what man does not have special things in this world? What man who loses his possessions in a flood or fire does not anguish over them, and some things in particular? Or, when in prison or abroad miss certain special things?
