Matthew 9:18 - Additional Comments

See the note on Mark 5:22.
This ruler took a great risk, not only to come visit Jesus, but to fall down and worship Him. Yet, I expect it was an easy decision, since his daughter's life was at risk. Otherwise, it's very likely he may never have come to Jesus! If only people could come to Jesus without requiring extreme conditions sometimes. Ah yes, but if only we would draw closer to Jesus without extreme conditions!
What faith this man had! Jesus did not make it a practice to raise people from the dead, yet this ruler knew He could do it!
See, in verses 18-38, Jesus showed individual things he values for us. Plus, overall, he shows how He values us, and how we are to value others. Not only do we see Jesus seeking these things for others, but we also should be working to see how we can have these same affects in others.
