Nehemiah 1:6 - Additional Comments

Nehemiah didn't say "they have sinned". He said "we have sinned". Sin is the heart of the problem, the root of the human dilemma, and Nehemiah recognized this.
When you pray about the sins of others, God will also reveal your own sins. We must not hide from sin or ignore it. Repentance is the key for renewal and revival. Face sin, so the walls can be rebuilt. Don't just point the finger, but look in the mirror (James 1:22-25).
Notice he refers to the Jews as the children of Israel, instead of Judah. Once the nation of Judah was defeated, the Jews once again were reunited as the nation of Israel, even though they were a nation in exile.
