Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

How would most people define wisdom? Common sense, scientific knowledge, philosophical insight, cunning, life experience, practical advice.
What sources do people seek wisdom from? Psychics, formal education, friends, self-help books, horoscopes, meditation, advice columns, religious gurus.

Wisdom is the "ability to judge correctly and to follow the best course of action, based on knowledge and understanding" (Lockyer p. 1103).
Wisdom is making decisions as God would:
- Wisdom begins with the fear of God (Prov 9:10).
- James gives a description of wisdom, that it aligns with God's nature - James 3:17.
- We can acquire wisdom by asking God for it in prayer (James 1:5).
Wisdom can be defined as making decisions as God would. What kind of decisions are those? Decisions to propagate God's agenda. Some may deem the decisions made by the greats in monetary systems, scientific circles, or judicial systems as wise, but that is not how God sees it - 1 Cor 1:18-31,
While knowledge is increasing by leaps and bounds in our world, wisdom's voice seems to be rarely heard. That is because the prerequisite for wisdom is knowledge of God (1 Cor 2:2,5,10).
You won't have a proper view of any field of study until you first have a relationship with God, or you will not see things as they truly are.
