Verses 1-2 talk about who praises God. Now, we see why to praise God, and at the same time are reminded about who God is.
Why praise Him? He is good. "Good" here can mean best, bountiful, cheerful, fine, gracious, joyful, kindly, loving, merry, most pleasant, precious, wealthy. God is not just good, but good like no other - the best. He is the best at anything He does. Therefore we are to praise Him for everything He does, as it all is perfect. This leads to being thankful for everything (1 Thess 5:17), for everything He does in our lives is perfect, the best. Recall His priorities - our relationship with Him, our character, then our circumstances.
Why else praise Him? It is pleasant, pleasurable, sweet, lovely. Try not to praise Him because it is time, it is expected, it is right, but actually pause and enjoy it. Let Him fill your soul with gladness as you praise Him.
